“When light becomes song, candle lullaby…
work and performance, fills Luiz Monforte’s works. His is
the cacophonous assemblage of landscape, narrative and interior
monologue. Monforte’s work is a journey – sorting sources,
keeping and discarding, things, ideas, juxtapositions. His work
is conversation, happenstance and theatre, in which disparate elements
assert themselves and their relationship – become much more
than the sum of the parts, and hence, cause us to question the power
of the object itself. Monforte creates contexts, worlds, stories.
And with Kurt Schwitters, Joseph Cornell and Marcel Duchamp peeking
over his shoulder, moves away from surrealism, toward a magic place
filled with music, laughter… ‘I walk ahead of myself,
in perpetual expectation of miracles”.
